|Sussex 10pts, Yorkshire 5pts|
An unbeaten 73 from Gary Ballance helped Yorkshire earn an unlikely draw with Sussex at Hove.
Ballance faced 207 deliveries, with number 10 Steve Patterson surviving 41 balls as Yorkshire closed on 314-8, a lead of 39.
Earlier, Jonny Bairstow made 76 but Monty Panesar's 5-89 looked to have Sussex set for victory.
When Panesar bowled Ryan Sidebottom, the Tykes were 289-8, only 14 ahead, but Ballance and Patterson held on.
The visitors had begun the day 29-2, 246 runs behind, and initially resisted in the shape of Anthony McGrath (44) and Andrew Gale (26).
Both men fell to Panesar, before Bairstow and Ballance combined to add 78 for the fifth wicket.
Again it was Panesar who broke the partnership, Bairstow top-edging a sweep to Kirk Wernars at square leg, leaving Adil Rashid (27) to support Ballance for 20 overs.
Once more Panesar struck, removing Rashid with the first ball after tea and, when Amjad Khan trapped Ajmal Shahzad lbw and Panesar accounted for Sidebottom, Yorkshire looked to be staring down the barrel.
But Patterson joined Ballance for a further 15 overs of defiance to take Yorkshire to safety.
