Innovative batting by Azeem Rafiq gave Yorkshire a thrilling last-over win against Lancashire.

The young all-rounder lifted consecutive deliveries from Tom Smith over the wicketkeeper's head to secure victory for the visitors.

Earlier Rafiq took 3-15 as Yorkshire restricted Lancashire to just 122-6 from their 20 overs.

Luke Proctor's 3-22 made life difficult for Yorkshire who reached 123-8 with two balls to spare.

Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid had Lancashire in trouble from the start, trapping Smith leg before with the second ball of the innings.

Rashid and Rafiq reduced Lancashire to 62-6 before Karl Brown and Procter compiled an unbeaten partnership of 60.

In reply Yorkshire lost wickets steadily.

Adam Lyth was bowled by Gary Keedy for 28 and Procter found unexpected bounce to rip out the middle order.

Needing ten from the final over, Rafiq and Ryan Sidebottom held their nerve, and Rafiq's readiness to try the unorthodox against Smith paid off to give the White Rose victory in front of a crowd of more than 10,000.
