A terrific all-round performance from Darren Stevens helped Kent to a 15-run win over Essex and a FL t20 quarter-final tie at Leicestershire.

Kent won the toss and opted to bat with Joe Denly making 69 before Stevens (41no) and Azhar Mahmood (31) drove the visitors up to 183-3.

In reply, Essex lost wickets regularly as Stevens claimed 4-21, stranding them short on 168-9.

The hosts miss out on qualifcation and have to settle for sixth place.

New Zealand international Scott Styris top-scored for Essex with 40 from 27 balls.
