Nottinghamshire and Somerset settle for draw
LV= County Championship - Division One, Trent Bridge
Nottinghamshire 492 & 41-2 drew with Somerset 386 & 426
Notts 11pts, Somerset 9pts
Nick Compton scored his second century of the season as Somerset and Nottinghamshire settled for a draw.
Compton, who made a career-best 254 not out against Durham in May, hit 115 as Somerset, resuming on 197-2, were all out for 426 in their second innings.
Samit Patel (4-70) recorded his best figures of the season, while Andre Adams took 3-77.
It left Notts with an unlikely victory target of 321 and the captains shook hands with the home side on 41-2.
Alex Hales, who scored 184 in the first innings, was awarded his county cap by Notts captain Chris Read during the lunch interval.
Hales was one of two wickets to fall in Nottinghamshire's second innings with Riki Wessels the other man to go, to Arul Suppiah and Steve Kirby respectively.
Earlier, Compton was well supported by Chris Jones (55), who was playing only the second Championship game of his career.
The pair put on 124 for the third wicket to remove any real prospects of a Nottinghamshire victory.
Compton finally lost his wicket to a stunning flying catch by Wessels off Steven Mullaney, while debutant Adam Dibble ended unbeaten on 39, hitting two sixes and five fours.
