|Glamorgan 4pts, Essex 3pts|
Spinner Tom Craddock sparked an Essex fightback on day two at the Swalec Stadium as Glamorgan lost seven wickets for just 86 runs.
Craddock ended with 4-89 as only Michael Powell (43), Will Owen (39) and Graham Wagg (22) made significant contributions to the hosts' innings.
Two early wickets for Glamorgan left Essex stuttering on 49-2.
But half-centuries from Owais Shah (66) and Jaik Mickleburgh (56) helped the visitors close on 160-2.
CLOSE OF PLAY SUMMARY
BBC Wales cricket correspondent Edward Bevan:
"The placid Swalec Stadium pitch could have the last word in this game. Only 12 wickets have fallen in the first two days with little help for the bowlers of either side.
"In reply to Glamorgan's 399, Essex are 160-2 and they should easily pass the follow-on target of 250 - and unless Glamorgan's bowlers can make inroads then they can get near to Glamorgan's first innings total.
"Owais Shah, the former England batsman, is undefeated on 66 having shared an 111-run partnership with Jake Mickleburgh for the third wicket. Essex trail by 239."
