Gareth Rees gives Glamorgan solid start
LV County Championship Division Two, Colwyn Bay
Close of play, day one: Glamorgan 328-8 v Leicestershire
Glamorgan 3pts, Leicestershire 2pts
Gareth Rees top-scored for Glamorgan with 71 as they reached 328-8 on the first day at Colwyn Bay.
The home side struggled early on as Matthew Hoggard and Wayne White removed Alviro Petersen and William Bragg to leave them on 34-2.
But Glamorgan's middle order proved more resilient, Jim Allenby and Mark Wallace each making 55 to move their side towards a respectable total.
Dean Cosker continued to frustrate Leicestershire with an unbeaten 21.
James Harris, back from England Lions duty, batted well for 31 before edging to slip but spin twins Cosker and Robert Croft guided their team to the close.
At the start of the day Alviro Petersen, who needed 38 more runs to become the first Glamorgan player past 1,000 first-class runs this season, was out in the third over.
He was bowled through the gate by vkisiting skipper Matthew Hoggard, playing his first Championship match for two months after recovering from an arm injury.
Hoggard, who opened with a spell of nine overs, could have had a wicket three balls earlier when wicket-keeper Paul Dixey dived across first slip but could not cling on to Rees.
