Wes Durston and Jonathan Clare both took four wickets to bowl Derbyshire to a 101-run victory against Kent.

Kent started the day on 0-1, needing 298 to win, having lost Adam Riley second ball the night before.

Joe Denly helped Kent reach 100-2, but then Clare and Durston took control.

Opener Denly's loss for 68 triggered a collapse, only Darren Stevens contributing from then on with 54 as second-to-bottom Kent were bowled out for 196 not long after lunch.

Kent wrap up their season next week when they take on Glamorgan in their controversial, experimental day-night four-day clash at Canterbury.

POST-MATCH VERDICT

BBC Radio Kent's Ben Croucher:

"Kent will be concerned about the progress of their youngsters after a comfortable win for Derbyshire today.

"But for some aggressive hitting from the experience of Stevens and Denly, Kent's defeat would have been more emphatic.

"There were many opportunities for one of the academy products to step it up a notch but all failed to deliver a meaningful contribution in the second innings and the match.

"Denly, Stevens, Mahmood and Balcombe all did the bulk of the work but Derby were clinically efficient and Wes Durston's career best figures were reward for a fine all-round contribution in the match."
