Cook backs Strauss to end drought

England's Alastair Cook dismisses criticism of his opening partner Andrew Strauss following a disappointing performance in the first Test against Pakistan in Dubai.

Cook and Strauss scored just 33 runs between them as their side fell to a 10-wicket defeat, while captain Strauss is without a Test century in over a year.

The two left-handers, England's must prolific opening pair in history, will walk out together for the 100th time during the second Test, becoming only the fourth pair in Test history to reach this milestone.

BBC Sport's Joe Wilson reports.
