Jayawardene queries Panesar omission

Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene questions England's omission of "match-winner" Monty Panesar for the Second Test in favour of another seam bowler.

Although he credited England's attack for the "tight lines" they bowled, the right-hander feels Panesar would have been a threat on the turning pitch in Colombo and believes the selection was influenced by England's batting concerns.

Jayawardene made 105, his second century of the series, before being dismissed by Graeme Swann with the hosts on 238-6 at the close of day one, with England needing a victory in order to maintain their status as the world's top-ranked Test nation.
