Katich century rescues Hampshire against Yorkshire

Simon Katich closed in on a double century as Hampshire recovered to post an imposing total against Yorkshire.
After Steven Patterson (2-62) reduced Hampshire to 83-4, Katich (180 not out) shared century partnerships with Sean Ervine (44) and Michael Bates (88no).
The Australian's 240-ball innings has so far contained 20 boundaries in a near six-hour stay at the crease.
Ryan Sidebottom, Iain Wardlaw and Joe Root were also amongst the wickets as Hampshire reached stumps on 352-5.
But the day belonged to Katich, who had a brief but unsuccessful spell with Yorkshire in 2002.
He came close to being lbw to his first ball and also enjoyed moments of good fortune.
The former Derbyshire man drove Iain Wardlaw just out of Patterson's reach at deep mid-off on 49, was dropped on 114 by a diving Sidebottom, and survived a fierce return to Adil Rashid when on 144.
