Laurie Evans smashed 68 runs off 41 balls, including nine boundaries, to guide Warwickshire to a first FL t20 win of 2012 against Northants.
After winning the toss, Northants hit 149 for four with Australian Cameron White top-scoring with 60 not out.
The Bears' run chase started badly with Rikki Clarke bowled for a duck in the first over at Edgbaston by Jack Brooks.

Northants are still looking for their first win of the season and their score was restricted by tight bowling from Steffan Piolet (0-19), New Zealand's Jeetan Patel (1-24) and Woakes (1-26).
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Northants coach David Capel told BBC Northampton:
"I didn't think it was enough runs. We spoke about getting 160 or 165 and that was the target. Between the overs of 13 and 16 we scored 18 runs and that's not enough.
"There was too much swinging and missing. It's disappointing not to have reached that total.
"We gave ourselves a good chance with those early wickets, but we were 10 or 15 runs short."
Warwickshire coach Ashley Giles told BBC WM:
"Twenty20 has been giving the yips a bit. We looked a bit jittery again, compared to how we've been doing in the Championship.
"Being totally honest, I'm not sure about my best starting XI in Twenty 20. But we've got good enough players.
"I tried Rikki Clarke at the top of the order, which gave Laurie Evans an opportunity at five and he finished it off, and saved the day for us. It wasn't slogging either. They were proper cricket shots."
