Veteran Anthony McGrath hit an unbeaten 76 to steer Yorkshire to a two-wicket victory over Gloucestershire and up to second in Division Two.

In a bid to force a result Yorkshire declared on their overnight 61-2 and allowed Gloucestershire to make 159-0 in 10 overs to set up a run chase.

Despite Phil Jaques hitting 79, the hosts were wobbling on 205-5 and 267-7.

But McGrath steadied things with the help of Azeem Rafiq (24) and hit the winning runs to see them home on 316-8.

Yorkshire's victory lifted them above Kent, who won at Leicestershire, by four points, but they trail leaders Derbyshire by 19 points going into the final two games of the season.
