Leinster beat Northern Knights to clinch Inter-Pro 50-over title

Andrew Poynter hit an unbeaten century for Leinster Lightning as they clinched the 50-over Inter-Provincial title

Andrew Poynter's unbeaten 123 helped Leinster clinch the Inter-Provincial 50-over title with a game to spare as they defeated the Northern Knights by 47 runs at Waringstown.

Poynter's century helped Leinster reach 254-9 from their 50 overs.

Kevin O'Brien produced bowling figures of 3-24 as the Knights were bowled out for 207 with James McCollum the top scorer on 35 not out.

Leinster will face the Knights again in a dead rubber on Saturday at Rathmines.

Sunday's victory saw Leinster retaining the 50-over title and represented a successful send-off for coach Trent Johnston before his return to his native Australia.

Johnston's side already had clinched the the three-day Inter-Provincial title.
