Somerset County Cricket Club have announced their end-of-year financial results, posting a pre-tax profit of £239,943 for 2014.

That is approximately half the profit made by the club in 2013 when Australia played a pre-Ashes match in the county.

Chief executive Guy Lavender said: "I am delighted. Despite slightly lower levels of income, we have been able to continue with significant investment.

"We are very excited for 2015 - perhaps even with a trophy at the end of it!"

Somerset finished sixth in County Championship Division One in 2014.
