England v New Zealand: Reece Topley ready for 'jump'
Uncapped Essex seamer Reece Topley believes he is ready to make the "jump" to international cricket with England.
The 21-year-old, who has taken seven T20 Blast wickets this summer, is in the Twenty20 squad to face New Zealand.
"It's probably the biggest jump I've ever had in the standard of cricket, but I feel like I can contribute at that level," he told BBC Essex.
"I'm very excited about seeing how I do and it's a good time to assess where I am and what I need to improve on."
England are currently level at 2-2 in the home one-day series with New Zealand.
"They have a very aggressive, action-packed style of cricket. England have matched them punch-for-punch in this series," said former England Lions player Topley.
"I can't wait to play cricket at that standard and with that intent - I like to think I'm aggressive with my style."
Topley's father Don played for both Essex and Surrey, and was with his son when he got the call.
"I'd just woken up from an afternoon nap when I got the call," said Topley Jr. "So I probably sounded a bit unenthusiastic when I spoke to the selectors.
"But I told my dad what had happened and he was elated for me."
