Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali says that, having been born in Birmingham, he cannot wait to play in a 'home' Ashes Test against Australia at Edgbaston next week.
Moeen was still a teenage Warwickshire second teamer, prior to his move to Worcester in 2007, when Michael Kasprowicz famously gloved Steve Harmison to wicketkeeper Geraint Jones on 7 August 2005 at Edgbaston, allowing England to complete a two-run victory over Australia.
"The famous Harmison bouncer," Moeen told BBC Midlands Today. "It was one of the first Test matches I really remember in the Ashes. Hopefully, it will be another famous win this time."
Having been named again in a 13-man squad, Moeen will be making his first Test appearance at Edgbaston, if he is selected next Wednesday.
He played on his old 'home' ground in both the ODI and the T20 at the end of last season against India, but none of his 13 Test appearances to date have been in Birmingham.
