Firth excited by prospect of Rio Games

Northern Ireland swimmer Bethany Firth say she is excited by the prospect of competing for Great Britain at this year's Paralympic Games in Rio.

Firth achieved the 100m breaststroke qualifying time at the British trials in Glasgow on Saturday, and repeated the feat in the 100m backstroke on Sunday.

"When I get to Rio, I want to swim my best, show what I can do and make people proud," said Firth, who was a gold medallist in the 100m backstroke at the London 2012 Paralympics while representing Ireland.

Last year Firth, from Seaforde in Co Down, had to pull out of the British team for the IPC World Championships because of a broken wrist.
