Peterborough 2-2 Yeovil

Yeovil ended Peterborough's faint hopes of automatic promotion from League One and secured their own survivial with a dramatic draw.

Paul Wotton put the visitors ahead from the spot after Posh keeper Paul Jones tripped Nathan Jones in the area.

Kelvin Langmead converted Lee Tomlin's free-kick with three minutes left for 1-1, only for Andrew Tutte to fire in low to put the visitors ahead again.

Craig Mackail-Smith poked home after a defensive mix-up to make it 2-2.

The point cemented Yeovil's place in the division - they are nine points clear of the relegation places with only six points to play for.

Peterborough stay in fourth place in the table, eight points behind Huddersfield and Southampton with just two games remaining.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:

"I needed to freshen the side up as Friday's performance at Leyton Orient was a really tired one and this is the only real chance we've got.

"Maybe I'll get criticised for picking what some people may look at as a weakened team but I didn't see it that way.

"I've done it for the right reasons and I know I've done it for the right reasons and I don't regret doing it."

Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton told BBC Somerset:

"We gave Peterborough a very good game. First half I thought we were the better side, they brought the big guns on and put us under real pressure but we stood up to that well and it was an excellent team performance.

"Of course I'm disappointed to concede a goal late on, but with two games left we've got a chance to get a bigger points total to what we had last year and we're safe.

"I'm proud of the achievement and pleased the board stuck with me when we were bottom of the league. (Chairman) John Fry has got to take massive credit for that along with everybody on the board because the easiest thing would have been to sack me."
