Morecambe 1-2 Northampton

Northampton sealed a second successive victory to end the season on a high note at Morecambe.

Kevin Thornton gave the Cobblers the lead when he was on target from close range after the hosts failed to deal with a Michael Jacobs cross.

Guillem Bauza was guilty of two bad misses for the visitors before Ben Tozer sealed the win with a great strike into the top corner.

Nile Cowperthwaite headed a late consolation for the hosts.

POST-MATCH REACTION

Northampton Town manager Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Northampton:

"Maybe I shouldn't be shocked, but the fans that were here were magnificent. It was a good win, it's nice to finish on an away win. We deserved the win and had other, good chances.

"There wasn't a lot to play for but pride and I said to the players, it was like the beginning of next season.

"The ones that weren't here are the ones we've not kept."
