Crawley have signed in-demand Cheltenham Town striker Wes Thomas on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old, the Robins' top scorer with 19 goals, refused to extend the one-year deal he signed last summer when joining from Dagenham & Redbridge.

Red Devils boss Steve Evans told the club website: "Young Wes is a natural goalscorer and is a great signing."

Midfielder Scott Davies, 23, has also arrived at the Broadfield Stadium after leaving Reading.

Manager Evans added: "Scott is a confidence player and loves to score a goal, which is great for a midfielder.

"I know he had a few options to further his career but he knows a few of the lads here and that helped. He is a dead ball specialist and we hope to take advantage of that."

Evans also praised new striker Thomas, adding: "It is always hard to get strikers who score goals and to get one for nothing is an extra bonus.

"His movement is good, he is quick and he can score goals. We had to work especially hard to get Wesley here given the interest in him from other decent football clubs but that will all be worth it when he starts scoring goals for us.

"I really do believe that he is also still developing and that we can make him a better player.

"I spoke at length with Mark Yates (Cheltenham Town manager) and he is gutted to be losing such a talented player who in turn scored plenty of goals for him."
