Norwich City boss Paul Lambert says he will have to continue to "box clever" in his team-building for the Premier League.

Aware that big-name players will be out of his reach, Lambert has so far captured Everton's James Vaughan and Steve Morison from Millwall.

The Scot told BBC Radio Norfolk: "We have not got a foothold in this league at all.

"We are a new team coming up really quickly so I have to box clever."

With two signings already done and dusted, Lambert has made it clear there will be plenty more arrivals at Carrow Road this summer, having laid out the target of attracting seven new faces to his promotion-winning squad.

And Lambert believes it will not just be the summer transfer window which will prove vital to his side's chances of surviving next season.

"I also know that come January time I'll have to maybe strengthen again," he said.

"The club have been great, the board have been great.

"They know the current group need a hand but we'll never go out and do what Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United can do."
