Nathan Cameron and Danny Ireland sign new Coventry City deals

Coventry City

Coventry City academy duo Nathan Cameron and Danny Ireland have signed new deals at the club.

Defender Cameron, 19, who has represented England at Under-20 level and started 22 matches last season, has signed until June 2013.

Australian goalkeeper Ireland, 22, who also made his first-team debut last season, is committed until June 2012.

Boss Andy Thorn told the club website: "We are developing a strong base of homegrown talent here."

He added: "Nathan was one of the surprises of last season.

"Very few people expected him to start the first game, but he took the opportunity with both hands and became a vital member of the squad.

"We are delighted that Danny has signed. This is a big season for him and we want to see him challenging for a first-team place."

Three teenagers, including defender Jordan Clarke, signed new deals at the club earlier this month.
