Peterborough United defender Ryan Bennett has agreed a new four-year deal at London Road, while winger Tommy Rowe has signed on for three years.

The pair played 85 times between them last season as Posh won promotion via the League One play-off final.

Bennett, 21, joined Posh from Grimsby in October 2009, initially on loan, while 22-year-old Rowe arrived from Stockport five months earlier.

"I am absolutely delighted," boss Darren Ferguson told the club website.

"They are probably the most important signings we have made during the summer."

Centre-half Bennett added: "I think it shows the ambition of the club to want to keep hold of the young players.

"It is great when the manager and chairman think so highly of you that they reward you for what you have achieved."

Rowe, who scored in the 3-0 play-off final win over Huddersfield, said: "Last season was a special one for both the club and myself.

"I have a manager here that has improved my game and someone I enjoy playing for."
