Northampton 0-0 Accrington

Northampton and Accrington produced a goalless draw on the opening day of the season at Sixfields.

The visitors thought they had taken an early lead when Kurtis Guthrie headed in but he had been flagged offside.

Adebayo Akinfenwa had a chance to score but headed Ben Tozer's long throw wide before he too had a goal dissallowed when he fouled Sean Murdoch.

Craig Lindfield nearly won it for Stanley at the death but Sam Walker made a smart save from close range.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Northampton manager Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Northampton:

"I don't really want to start talking about tactics because people always use that if you lose or draw.

"Tactics and shapes and philosophies are not just for Christmas - they're for the whole season.

"I thought we had enough of the ball. Things didn't fall for us."
