Swansea City defender Ashley Williams has declared their pre-season tour of Austria a success despite a 1-0 loss to United Arab Emirates' Olympics squad on Sunday.

Williams said a rigorous training camp had taken its toll on Swansea on their final day.

The Swans start in the Premier League at Manchester City on 15 August.

Williams said Sunday's loss exposed "negatives that we've got out of the way now, that we can address".

"A couple of the boys got 90 minutes which was probably needed and I think it's been a success all round," he added.

Swansea City beat Inter Baku of Azerbaijan 3-1 in the first of the two friendly matches in Austria.

But a 16th-minute goal by UAE's Mohammed Abdulrahman saw the Swans register a surprise loss in Flachau.

Two friendlies remain before Swansea return to the top flight for the first time since the 1982/83 season.

They face Celtic on Wednesday, 3 August and Spain's Real Betis on Saturday, 6 August. Pending medicals, the Swans are set to confirm the signings of Wayne Routledge and Leroy Lita and coach Colin Pascoe says he hopes both will play on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Williams sees the two friendlies as a perfect warm-up for full competition.

"Come Wednesday, we want to start getting the wins and that winning mentality. Two top teams to set us up for the Man City game, so it's perfect," Williams said.

He added that everyone was "buzzing" and they "can't wait" for the season opener against Manchester City.
