Tranmere forward Adam McGurk says his team need to develop a winning attitude if they are to challenge for promotion in League One this season.

Rovers beat Chesterfield 1-0 on the opening day of the season and McGurk wants that form to continue.

He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "We have to get a winning mentality at the club.

"The only way you can get that is by winning games and being ruthless. We want to go and win games and push for promotion this season."

Tranmere were knocked out of the Carling Cup 3-0 by Championship side Doncaster on Tuesday, and McGurk says his team need to get a positive result against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road to breed confidence.

"It would be nice to get a good start," continued McGurk.

"I think it would fill the lads with confidence to actually know that we can go to places like Leyton Orient and get results. Obviously if we can keep our home form up it would be good."
