Double over Arsenal will show Everton progress - Dowie
Everton striker Natasha Dowie says if the Blues can complete a league double over Arsenal on Thursday it will show they are moving in the right direction.
Everton beat Arsenal 3-1 in the Women's Super League at Marine in July.
"Not many teams come away from Borehamwood with anything," Dowie told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"If we can come away this season saying we've beaten Arsenal twice, then that's a massive improvement as I don't think we've ever done that before."
She added: "If we can go into the game against Arsenal and play against them like we did at home then that would be brilliant.
"I think their manager Laura Harvey said that they underperformed [in the game at Marine] and this one will be on their home turf.
"To be honest, to beat Arsenal is a very sweet experience because it happens very rarely and they've probably proved they are the best team in the league now."
A 2-0 at home defeat by Lincoln earlier this month all but ended Everton's hopes of claiming the inaugural WSL title.
But following a 2-0 win over Bristol on Saturday, Dowie believes her side can still have an impact on the final league placings.
"There are maybe some more twists and turns in this league yet," added the England international. "But hopefully we can get the three points that will push us close to second."
