Blue Square Bet Premier side Gateshead have signed goalkeeper Jak Alnwick from Newcastle United on an initial one-month loan.

The 18-year-old, who has two caps for the England Under-18 side, will provide cover for regular keeper Paul Farman and the injured Tim Deasy.

"He is a highly rated young keeper," Gateshead boss Ian Bogie said.

"He'll deputise for Tim Deasy while he recovers from his operation, it is a deal that benefits all parties."

Jak is the younger brother of Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.
