Tranmere 2-0 Wycombe

A toothless Wycombe Wanderers failed to threaten Tranmere, who won comfortably in an uninspiring encounter.

Rovers took an early lead when Enoch Showunmi latched on to Lucas Akins' header to finish from close range.

Elliot Benyon shot just wide for the visitors before Tranmere doubled their lead when Ash Taylor headed in a John Welsh corner.

Wanderers failed to find a breakthrough as they slumped to their fifth successive league defeat.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Tranmere manager Les Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside:

Showunmi goal delights Parry

"We've always said the most important thing is the three points and the second is the performance.

"That was our poorest performance of the season so far and we've won 2-0, but if that's our poorest, it goes to show how well we've played this season.

"To be fair to Wycombe, I thought they kept going right through to the 92nd minute and I thought they were a credit to their manager."
