Weaver happy with Harrogate Town point against Halifax

Harrogate Town

A solid defensive effort saw Harrogate Town earn a goalless draw at home to FC Halifax in Blue Square Bet North.

FC Halifax missed a chance to win the game when new Town goalkeeper Zac Jones saved a penalty.

Harrogate manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "I'd have taken a clean sheet, definitely.

"You always want to win your home games, that's the aim of it, but I can't knock any of the lads' efforts and attitude."

He said of Jones: "It was a fantastic save. He guessed the right way but he was very agile and I think he's had a great game. It's a super start for him."

Point is a platform to build on - Weaver

Weaver was delighted with the way his players responded to last week's 4-0 defeat at Hyde.

"It's been a long week. When you get dumped 4-0 there's a lot of thought goes off in the week," he added.

"That give us a starting point and it was a platform from which to build on.

"Halifax are a good attacking team so it was very pleasing to keep it tight at the back and the attitude was spot on."
