Blyth Spartans snap up striker Richard Offiong
Blue Square Bet North side Blyth Spartans have signed former Newcastle United and Gateshead striker Richard Offiong on undisclosed terms.
The 27-year-old, who had been playing in Australia for Oakleigh Cannons in the Victorian Premier League, returns to his native north east.
"We are delighted to get Richard on board," said boss Steve Cuggy.
"He has electric pace and will give us a different dimension to our attack, as well as additional firepower."
Cuggy added: "He's a local lad and was really keen to join us, in fact he actually got in contact with us about joining the club.
"He's trained with the lads all this week and has settled in really well and has done really well in the session."
Offiong moved to Australia after leaving Gateshead last season and lists Carlisle United, Hamilton Academicals and Darlington among his former clubs.
