Newport County manager Justin Edinburgh has appointed former Woking assistant Jimmy Dack as his number two.

Dack, the former Sutton and Aldershot midfielder, worked under Edinburgh during his time as Grays Athletic boss.

Edinburgh replaced Anthony Hudson as Newport boss on Tuesday and Dack, who left as Woking assistant in January, took County training on Thursday.

"Jimmy will be my right hand man and I'm looking forward to working with him again," said Edinburgh.

"Jimmy's approach to everything is very positive and that is what we need at this club right now to kick-start this season and start putting some results together."

Hudson left Newport as the Exiles were one place from the bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier League and the Welsh club are now without a win in 11 games.

Edinburgh's first game as County manager is their home match with Southport on Saturday.
