Southend 1-1 Morecambe

Phil Jevons scored and was later sent off as Morecambe drew at previous League Two leaders Southend.

After a quiet first half, Ryan Hall went close for Southend but fired across the face of goal.

Lewis Alessandra's through-ball set up Jevons to score on a breakaway, before Hall put a great chance wide.

Jevons was then sent off for pushing over Anthony Grant and the hosts equalised as Stewart Drummond put Sean Clohessy's cross into his own net.

Southend slip to second in the table after Crawley beat Shrewsbury, while Morecambe move into the play-offs in seventh place.

Sturrock admits to tactical error

"I've got to put my hand up for the first 10 minutes of the second half, I changed things around thinking it would benefit us and it actually made us a lot more open.

"They had a chance early on in the second half and then they scored.

"I'm putting my hand up to say maybe I've cost us dear as far as the result is concerned."
