Tranmere boss Les Parry wants extended Jose Baxter stay

Baxter holds the record as Everton's youngest ever player

Tranmere manager Les Parry says he will speak to Everton boss David Moyes to see if he can extend forward Jose Baxter's loan deal at Prenton Park.

The 19-year-old has scored twice since his move across the Mersey last month.

"I'll be having a word with David this week and seeing what his thoughts are," Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I think they sent him out [on loan] purely to get some games under his belt to be ready for them, so whether we're able to keep him is doubtful."

The teenager scored on his debut in a 2-1 defeat at Preston in September and was credited with the only goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over Oldham.

Parry added: "There was one ball he put in for Enoch [Showunmi] and I didn't see him take the slide rule out of his pocket, but he must have done at some point because it was a magnificent ball. He can do that, that's his game.

"Although we practise getting him the ball and finding space, it's getting more difficult."
