Reading boss Brian McDermott praises Adam Le Fondre
Reading boss Brian McDermott has praised striker Adam Le Fondre and said he can become a fans' favourite.
Le Fondre, 24, equalised twice for the Royals against Derby on Tuesday to rescue a valuable point for Reading.
"He is a good player and works hard, people talked about him as a goalscorer but he's not, he's more than that," McDermott told BBC Radio Berkshire.
"Adam lives to score goals and he could have had a hat-trick tonight. I'm sure the fans will really take to him."
Le Fondre, who began his career at Stockport, joined Reading in August 2011 from Rotherham for £300,000.
He has played 12 times this season and has scored eight goals.
"He looks after himself and he's got himself really fit and has trained hard," added McDermott.
Le Fondre himself is delighted with his form and says he is aiming to be Reading's top scorer this season.
"I want to be the lead marksman here, it's what I came to do - I came to score goals," he told Reading's official website.
"It was nice to score again but we didn't get the result we wanted, we didn't put in a great performance."
