Romanian match abandoned after crowd violence
- From the section Football
Violence erupts during Sunday's game between Romanian clubs Petrolul Ploiesti and Steaua Bucharest when a fan invades the pitch and punches Steaua defender George Galamaz in the head.
A mass brawl ensues as Galamaz's team-mates attack the fan, resulting in red cards for two players.
On a night of violence, a firecracker was then thrown onto the pitch, hitting Steaua keeper Ciprian Tatarusanu who suffered severe burns. The match was eventually abandoned.
Galamaz suffered a broken right cheekbone but has been released from hospital and the fan has been arrested.
