Carrick Rangers 3-3 Glentoran

Glentoran dropped crucial points in the championship chase as Carrick held Scott Young's side to a draw.

Richard Gibson scored with a curling left-foot free-kick in the fourth minute but Sean Ward scored an own goal on 28 after Aaron Hogg parried a shot.

Paul McDowell netted with a blistering 20-yard free-kick before the break but Colin Nixon headed in from close range from a Stephen Carson delivery on 65.

Ciaran Martyn's backward header on 76 made it 3-2 but Paul Heatley levelled.

Heatley whipped the ball home with his right foot just a minute after Martyn had nudged the visitors ahead.

Hogg had parried a Kevin Lynch shot for Ward's unfortunate own goal, the ball cannoning into the net off the defender.

Martyn hit the bar with a header when the scores were level at 2-2.

The result sees the Glens drop a place to fourth in the Premiership table.
