Manager Kevin Wilson is thrilled with the progress Ilkeston FC are making as they near their 12-month anniversary.

Wilson's side were reformed after the demise of Ilkeston Town in 2010 and currently sit top of the Northern Premier Division One South table.

"It's still very much a case of work in progress but I'm really pleased," Wilson told BBC Sport.

"On Saturday it's the year anniversary of the new club and we have come a long way in a very short space of time."

Ilkeston FC beat Rainworth Miners Welfare 4-1 last Saturday and are two points clear of Sheffield FC in second place after 18 games of the season.

And former Derby County and Chelsea striker Wilson is confident the side can stay where they are.

"The first team have done fantastically well," he added.

"There are some good teams in the league and we have to give teams respect. But if we carry on playing as we are and continue to concentrate on ourselves then we can have a good season. We have some very good players in the squad."
