Peterborough United not a selling club - Ferguson

Ferguson says Ryan Bennett (pictured) will not be leaving the club cheaply

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has warned that his best players cannot be bought on the cheap.

Defender Ryan Bennett is attracting reported interest, but Ferguson insists the 21-year-old would only leave in return for a multi-million pound offer.

"We're far from being a selling club. We've turned down numerous bids in my time here for a lot of players," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Ferguson prepared for 'intimidating' Blues

"If somebody wants to come in and offer £6m for Benno we'll probably sell him."

Posh have allowed two high-profile strikers to leave in the last 12 months, with top scorers Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith joining Hull and Brighton respectively.

And Ferguson says those deals carried the right price tag: "We sold Aaron at the right time

"We sold Craig at the right time and got very, very good money for him."

Bennett, who signed a new three-year deal with Posh in September, has been an ever-present in the Championship this season.
