Barnsley abort Gai Assulin move from Manchester City

Barnsley's loan move for Manchester City midfielder Gai Assulin has collapsed because of an injury to the Israel international.

The 20-year-old had agreed to join Keith Hill's Tykes until 3 January.

"On advice from the medical staff at Man City it's a deal we just can't do," boss Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"Everybody's come to the right conclusion. We've still got a great relationship with Man City. If the deal can be done in January it will be."

He made his debut for Israel as a 16-year-old, becoming the youngest-ever player to represent the country.

Assulin signed a two-and-a-half year contract at City in 2010, but has yet to make an appearance for the Premier League side.

He has previously played at Oakwell in a friendly for Israel's Under-21s against their English counterparts.

Hill added: "That deal's off and there won't be any more deals pending."
