Mansfield Town captain Adam Murray has signed a new contract that keeps him at the club until the end of next season.

Murray, 30, initially signed a deal until June 2012 when he joined permanently from Luton Town in January.

But the midfielder has now extended his stay at Field Mill and manager Paul Cox hopes on-loan Oxford United striker Matt Green, 24, will follow suit.

Stags must deal with the pressure - Cox

"It's a positive move. Hopefully we'll get Matt tied up in the not-too-distant future," Cox told BBC Radio Nottingham.

The Stags have already agreed a fee for Green, who has scored 11 goals this season.

Cox added: "This is a building process. We want to keep our best players."
