Reading boss Brian McDermott has praised his side's character following their late victory at Ipswich Town.

The Royals were 2-1 down at Portman Road with the game entering injury-time but produced a stunning comeback to win the game 3-2.

McDermott told BBC Berkshire: "What we do know is that these players have got spirit in spades.

"Entering injury-time we'd have certainly taken a draw but when we equalised I fancied us to win it."

He added: "I thought the fans were fantastic today, they stayed with us for the whole game.

"I hope none of them left early. Those that didn't will have had a fantastic journey home."

McDermott's side, who are now three points off the play-off positions, next host Peterborough on Tuesday.
