Burundi scored a memorable victory over Uganda at the Cecafa Cup on Thursday

Burundi pulled off a shock victory over Uganda to go through to the quarter-finals of the Cecafa Cup, the regional tournament for East and Central Africa.

Uganda are also through from Group B, despite the 1-0 defeat in Dar-es-Salaam on Thursday.

In the day's other game, Zanzibar beat Somalia 3-0 - a result which sends Somalia out of the competition.

Zanzibar still have a slim chance of progress as one of the best-performing third-placed teams.

Burundi dominated their game against Uganda, despite the Cranes being more than 50 places above them in the Fifa rankings.

Cedric Ammis got the only goal of the match on 36 minutes - and could have had a hat-trick, because he hit the post twice in the second half.

Earlier in the day Zanzibar got an excellent victory over Somalia to keep their hopes of making through to the next round alive.

Suleiman Kassim, Amir Hamad and Aggrey Moris got their goals.

Friday's matches are in group A and feature Rwanda against Djibouti and Malawi versus Ethiopia.
