Dungannon Swifts winger PJ Lavery sustained a serious leg injury in Tuesday's Mid-Ulster Cup quarter-final against Annagh United.

Lavery was injured late in the first half as he put Dungannon into a 2-0 lead, Michael Ward having netted the opener at Stangmore Park.

Players were sent to the changing rooms as Lavery received treatment.

A Swifts source later reported that the player had a suspected broken fibia and tibia as the Swifts went on to win 3-1.

Annagh goalkeeper Andrew Wright was sent-off following the incident in which Lavery was injured.

Raymond Wilkinson pulled a goal back for Annagh but Joe McCready's late strike made the game safe for Dungannon.

In another Mid-Ulster Cup clash on Tuesday, two goals from Joe Finlay and a Ryan Harpur goal helped holders Glenavon beat Lurgan Celtic 3-1.
