Hearts pay six figure tax bill after winding up order

Hearts have avoided several winding up orders in recent years

A winding up order issued against Hearts at the Court of Session on 14 December has been withdrawn after the club settled a tax bill with HM Revenue and Customs.

The Edinburgh club was placed in a similar position in October.

This latest bill was for a six figure sum and is unrelated to any previous bill.

Winding up orders were also served against the club in 2009 and 2010 which also related to unpaid tax to HMRC.

Both were settled after the club paid the bills.

In October 2011 Hearts had to pay an outstanding tax bill or a liquidation order would have been enforced.
