AFC Bournemouth director Tom Mitchell says that they have ended interest in Swindon Town winger Matt Ritchie following a rejected £500,000 bid.

The Cherries were keen on the 22-year-old, who has scored seven goals in 28 appearances this season.

"After having our latest bid rejected by Swindon Town, it's now time to draw a line under that one," Mitchell told afcb.co.uk.

Swindon also rejected the offer of a loan deal back in November.

The Gosport-born player joined the Robins from Portsmouth in January.

"We felt it was best to disclose the details of the bid to stop the constant speculation being published that hampers our efforts on a daily basis," added Mitchell.

"We'll make sure all the facts come out as and when a deal is done, bid tabled or offer rejected.

"We won't be keeping anyone in the dark. We'll just release the truth when the time is right."
