Reading captain Jobi McAnuff hopes for promotion push
Reading captain Jobi McAnuff believes this year's squad is better than last season's and says they can remain in the Championship play-off places.
The Royals were beaten finalists in last season's play-off final and moved up to sixth after beaten Brighton 3-0 on Boxing Day.
"We are probably a better team than last year," McAnuff told BBC Berkshire.
"I feel this year we have strength in depth and we have players who can come in and do a job in all positions."
He added: "We had a few leave and a few come in and it has taken us time to gel as a team.
"But you have seen in the past few weeks the cohesion is coming and we are enjoying our football and that is an important thing."
Reading host Ipswich on Saturday hoping to continue their recent fine form and McAnuff, who scored twice on Monday, says the spirit at the club is good.
"We are happy to be up there.
"It is a tough league and you can't take anything for granted. Hopefully we can carry on the good form we are in and see where it takes us," he concluded.
