Defender Graham Gartland has left St Johnstone by mutual consent.

The 28-year-old from Dublin has not featured this season after recovering from a long-term injury.

The former Drogheda United player has been linked with a move to Morton but their manager Allan Moore responded to talk of such a signing as "premature".

Meanwhile, Saints midfielder Liam Caddis has extended his loan spell with Arbroath until the end of the season, having joined in November.

Gartland, who played over 40 times for St Johnstone after joining in 2008, told the Perth club's website: "I've enjoyed my time with Saints but I need to be playing and hopefully this parting of the ways will allow me to do that

"I'd like to thank the fans who have been brilliant to me in my time here and also my present and past team-mates."
