Hayes and Yeading 3-2 Darlington

Hayes and Yeading saw off a late fightback to beat Darlington.

Darlington keeper Jordan Pickford fouled Julian Owusu in the area, with Louie Soares ramming home the penalty.

Daniel Wishart's 25-yard strike doubled Hayes's lead, before Tom Collins's shot from the edge of the area put them 3-0 up.

The Quakers pulled one back when Jamie Barton's miscued cross found the top corner, and Hayes's Pele put the ball into his own net for a tense finish.

The match was the second of three fixtures that Darlington are certain to fulfil, having narrowly avoided liquidation thanks to a £50,000 cash injection from the DFC Rescue Club, a group of supporters.

Luck runs against Quakers - Liddle

"It's difficult to take anything from this, but there's a lot of young lads out there who shouldn't be out there,

"We set ourselves up as a team, and then we lose Graeme Lee in the warm-up and Aaron Brown yesterday, so you feel like you're banging your head against a brick wall.

"The one thing I will give them is they stuck at it to the end, and two goals put a different outlook on the result."
