AFC Telford have let former captain Stuart Whitehead go to Worcester and have loaned Jon Adams to Leamington.

"Stuart has been a fantastic servant to the club and we are disappointed to lose him," said chairman Lee Carter.

"But the promise of a long-term contract at Worcester was an opportunity he felt he could not pass up at this stage of his career."

Telford need to trim their squad after several recent signings, so have released Adams on loan to Leamington.

Defender Whitehead, 35, made 152 appearances for Carlisle from 1998 to 2002.

He then signed for Darlington before dropping into the Conference with the old Telford United in the season they went bankrupt, 2003-04.

Whitehead moved on to Shrewsbury Town, Kidderminster Harriers, when he captained the side to the FA Trophy final in the first competitive game at the new Wembley, and then the reformed AFC Telford, whom he helped to promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier last season.

Midfielder Adams, 27, is best remembered for the two goals he scored in a 2-2 draw with Southend in the FA Cup first round in 2008.
